Чтение текстового файла с помощью InputStream

Как я могу прочитать текстовый файл, например, в приложении для Android:

"1.something written
2.in this file
3.is to be read by
4.the InputStream
..."

поэтому мне может быть возвращена строка вроде:

"something written\nin this file\nis to be read by\nthe InputStream"

о чем я думал (Pseudocode):

make an inputstream
is = getAssest().open("textfile.txt");  //in try and catch
for loop{
string = is.read() and if it equals "." (i.e. from 1., 2., 3. etc) add "/n" ...

Используйте BufferedReader для чтения входного потока. Поскольку BufferedReader будет читать текст из потока ввода символов, буферизовать символы, чтобы обеспечить эффективное считывание символов, массивов и строк. InputStream представляет входной поток байтов. reader.readLine() будет читать файл по строкам.
