Вы можете использовать Quartzcore и свойства слоя.

sometextfield.layer.borderWidth = 1;
sometextfield.layer.borderColor = [[UIColor redColor] CGColor];

Не забудьте добавить QuartzCore в ваш проект и импортировать его там, где вы хотите его использовать.
